Essential session cookie

saint_reader is an HTTP-only, Secure, SameSite=Lax cookie used to keep a verified account signed in. It cannot be read by page JavaScript and is configured to expire after 30 days. Signing out removes it. If you choose Google or Apple, a temporary __Host-saint_oauth cookie checks that the provider response belongs to your sign-in request; it expires after 10 minutes.

Local storage

The Reader uses browser local storage for reading text size, light or dark appearance, page layout, last reading position, and an unsaved note draft. These settings and drafts generally stay on the device. A random guest ID is stored there and sent with content-open events to measure repeat visits from the same browser. After a verified sign-in, that guest ID is associated with the account so browsers used with the same account can be viewed together. A separate random group-prayer device identifier is sent when you join a gathering to prevent duplicate seats. Clearing site data removes local identifiers but does not by itself delete earlier server records; contact us to request deletion.

Session storage

Session storage remembers whether Apple Pencil capability was confirmed and, when you join group prayer, a temporary call identifier and display name. It normally clears when the browser session ends.

Provider and operational data

Hosting infrastructure may keep ordinary request and security logs that include IP address and browser information. These logs are not advertising cookies and are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

Optional Google Analytics

On the public website, you can allow Google Analytics measurement. We do not load its tag before you agree; declining leaves it off. Once allowed, Google may set analytics cookies such as _ga to distinguish visits. The choice is saved in local storage as saint-bible-google-analytics-v1 and is not an account or marketing preference. We disable ad storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization in our tag. Control Center and the iOS app do not load this web tag; our page-view events skip sensitive links. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Your controls

You may block or delete cookies and site data in your browser. Blocking the essential session cookie will prevent account sign-in and synchronized study features, but public reading remains available.
